Barnegat Light sits at the north end of Long Beach Island, past Loveladies and Harvey Cedars, where the island runs out at the inlet and the lighthouse. We come over the Route 72 causeway from our office in Bayville and cover homes and rentals all the way up to the end of the island.

Houses out here deal with different problems than homes on the mainland. A lot of them sit empty for part of the year, many are raised on pilings, and nearly all of them take a beating from salt air and damp wood. That combination is exactly what the pests on the island go after.

What we see most on the north end

• Carpenter ants and termites. Decks, stairs, pilings and wood trim stay damp this close to the water, and that's what both of them need. We inspect, treat, and show you any wood that's already damaged. More on termite control.
• Mice in the off season. When a house closes up after summer, mice get in around utility lines and through gaps under raised homes, and they have the place to themselves for months. More on rodent control.
• Spiders on decks and outdoor lights. Porch lights and railings draw insects at night, and spiders set up right where the food is. More on spider control.

If you're not here year-round

Plenty of Barnegat Light owners are only down for the season, or rent the house out. If no one will be home when we come, tell us and we'll work out the visit with you.
